It has been quite some time since I have posted to this list. I would like
to extend a warm welcome to all new list members added since this years Ohio
Linux Fest and Classic Console and Gaming show. There's a lot to let you
all know about, so let's go!

First, we are excited about many of the changes we are implementing for
Notacon 2009. Most importantly, we have a new venue, which will provide us
not only with double the amount of space we've had in the past, but also a
higher quality space as well! Our screening room for Blockparty events this
year will allow us to install a much larger projection system, allowing us
all to enjoy all of the productions to their fullest potential. Also, we
will have reasonably priced food, drinks and alcoholic beverages on site!
If that doesn't satisfy you, our new location has lots of great restaurants,
bars and other watering holes within stumbling distance.

Our Call for Proposals is open and busy! Suggestions for presentations,
workshops, performances and events will be accepted through January 31,
2009. We already have a lot of great proposals in but always need more.
Even if you think your idea or talk is a little "out there" go ahead and
submit it! We encourage and appreciate new, innovative and just plain
strange presentations. There's a lot of wiggle room when it comes to our
mantra of, "Creativity, Community and Technology". Be a part of Notacon and
also enjoy some of the perks associated with being a presenter!

Registration is open for those who wish to participate by getting involved
with our events, talks and workshops. Currently, one can register at either
a basic rate of $65 for the weekend or the premium rate of $100. Premium
registrations include a stylish Notacon bag as well as goodies including
free food vouchers (yes, we'll feed you!) and other freebies and goodies.
These rates go up after February 1st, so please register soon. While you
are at it, book your room as well through our website! The sooner we book
out the hotel the sooner we know it will be "ours". Wouldn't it be nice to
think that everyone staying at the hotel is there for Notacon? It's
possible!

There is so much more I'd love to tell you, but perhaps the best suggestion
is to check out our website, subscribe to our RSS feed and read these emails
as they come out. I hope to send about two a month through February or so
to keep everyone abreast of all of the great things we are up to.

Thanks for reading and if you have any questions, suggestions or ideas,
please feel free to email them to me at froggy at notacon.org! When sending me
email, please include the word "Notacon" somewhere in the subject so that it
bypasses my spam filters.
